Sincere Fine Watches opens Asia’s largest flagship boutique at YTL’s Starhill Gallery
Kuala Lumpur, 2 May 2012
“I am honoured to have His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Sultan of Selangor to be with us to officiate the opening of the boutique. I’d also like to thank Tan Sri Francis for giving us this beautiful and powerful place to house Sincere, “ said Ritzmann in his speech.
“Sincere's presence here was made possible because of Tan Sri Francis's vision and passionate support and we believe that Starhill Gallery is the best home for Sincere. We spared no expense to make this the most beautiful boutique by hiring a Hong Kong Designer. There is no other space like this one,” he said.
Speaking during the event, Ritzmann also lauded the efforts of Tan Sri Francis in creating a space like the Adorn Floor where watch aficionados can enjoy and experience the various timepieces up close. The Adorn floor currently houses a multitude of exquisite watch brands and is known as Asia’s largest watch retail space.
A 'star' by any other name

YTL Land's Vice President, Joseph Yeoh chats with NST RED on prospects in Bukit Bintang.
"We engage the young with a lot of Facebook competitions and social media. And they are getting very good response from them," said Joseph Yeoh, Vice-President, YTL Land & Development Bhd. In addition, many of the facilities are geared towards the young, for example, on the rooftop of Lot 10, there is a gymnasium, the popular Actors Studio and a nice club to cater to the young and young-at-heart. Many of the outlets at Lot 10 are geared towards the young too, such as ZARA and the National Geographic outlet, which is the only one in Malaysia.
The enthusiasm of the heir apparent of YTL group is palpable. "We definitely believe in the market... we are putting money where our mouth is," he declares.
"I think the government reflects what I feel, they know Bukit Bintang is a very very vital part of Kuala Lumpur tourism and the KL community. They want to revitalise it. They have built a link from KLCC all the way to Pavilion, and later onwards all the way to Bukit Bintang. That just shows how they feel about which areas that they need to concentrate on. This really pushes retail and KL on the world map," he elaborates.
He also commented that within a 2.5km radius of Bintang Walk, there is a very large concentration of hotel rooms, making the hotel industry very competitive within this area. Yeoh junior predicts that five years from now, Bukit Bintang will be very different. "If I were an investor, I would definitely put in some money here," he concluded.
Globalising heritage food
NST, 20 March 2012
Hawker food that has been around for generations is akin to 'living art in the body' and is thus worth preserving for later generations.
Elaborating further, the YTL head said that hawker food is not just from the side of the street. "There is actually a sophistication and an art to it. If you don't do [cook] it properly, you will not be able to appreciate the real thing. It is a 'living art' inside your body and has to be prepared just right. That is why the majority of the stores in Hutong are run by the third and later generations who have learnt the art."
