STARHILL Gallery, in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Ministry, has unveiled “A Journey Through Time IX”, the ninth edition of one of Asia’s premier watch and jewellery showcases.
The showcase at Starhill Gallery, which ends on Nov 27, features 125 international brands of watches and jewellery.
Among the featured collections are Bedat & Co, Breguet, Cecil Purnell, HYT, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Morits Grossmann, Mouawad, Carrera y Carrera, Ceres, Speake-Marin and also the exclusive and limited edition James Bond Omega watch showcase.
YTL Land & Development, YTL Hotels and Properties vice-president Joseph Yeoh said “A Journey Through Time” was bringing their appreciation for the finest timepieces and jewellery to life as they assisted a new generation of discerning consumers to better understand and acquire the right pieces to accentuate their personalities and lifestyles.
“This year, we are expanding our efforts to connect with younger viewers even as we continue to meet the expectations of our long-time attendees,” Yeoh said.
Tourism Malaysia deputy director-general (promotion) Datuk Azizan Noordin, who was also present at the launch, said the showcase was a good example of a successful partnership between Tourism Malaysia and Starhill Gallery.
“We have always leveraged on smart partnerships with the private sector to develop the tourism industry.
“We work with them to promote the event through our overseas offices that encourage tourists to visit and for Malaysians to travel locally while enjoying a world-class experience,” he said.
Another highlight is the presence of iconic British designer Julien Macdonald, who will feature designs from his latest collection from London Fashion Week and couture pieces in the Julien Macdonald Fashion Show at the event’s debut.
Seven public workshops will also be held by watch specialists covering a wide range of topics giving everyone from beginners to seasoned collectors the opportunity to learn and explore the art of watch-making and a chance to chat with the experts.
There will also be performances by international artistes such as British pop-idol Gareth Gates, Italian tenor Alessandro Safina and British mezzo-soprano Carly Paoli during the showcase.
